Saturday Sessions with Colin

Saturday Sessions with Colin

Saturday Morning Direction

At the last general meeting it was suggested during the discussion that the session could be a forum for providing members with an introduction to new ideas, techniques or even machinery / jig usage.

Colin Dobson, the Saturday session leader, will be on holiday until early July; however, on return he will organise a program which will be promoted in the newsletter & on the web site. Some ideas in no specific order are:

  • Using the scroll saw for intarsia or making toy furniture.
  • Understanding what jigs are available in the workshop.
  • Plans for a toolbox will be available for new members to become familiar with the club’s machinery.
  • Demonstration of how to turn an emerging bowl.
  • Finger joints and / or biscuits for laminating timber.

Members can put forward what they would like to learn and if necessary, the session leader will find someone to meet the request.

Open Day Success!

OPEN DAY A HUGE SUCCESS!

The Open Day was a great success, both in the promotion of the woodworking club, our new shop and in seeking new members.

The public is now aware of the shop and our club. Noel Archdall, our membership coordinator, said we may have six new members from the day. And, Dennis Conner, our woodworking shop manager, said there was good interest and sales at the shop.

The Southern Peninsula Classic and Historic Car Club displayed some amazing cars.

It was a great day for everyone.  Many thanks to everyone who helped make it a great success!

Woodworkers of the Southern Peninsula

Ritchies IGA is well known for its IGA Rewards program whereby  loyal shoppers are rewarded. With your registration to the program you can nominate our woodworkers club to benefit from your purchases.

Many years ago the Woodworkers of the Southern Peninsula registered as a community service which can be nominated when you sign up for a card.

Each time you scan your card when making a purchase at any IGA store, the total is recorded to your chosen club, school or charity account. At the end of each month, Ritchies will pay your chosen club, school or charity .5% of the total accrued directly into our club’s bank account.

Pick up your card application at the club workshop or at your local Ritchies IGA!
