Surfing the Pacific Rim

Scott Hanley “Searching with The Dog”  –  2021

Wire & Wood, 12x6x5 inches

Scott resides on the South Coast of Australia, right on the beach. “I make surf inspired sculpture. Two former world champions have purchase my art (Potter & Hoy).”

Surfing as inspiration began with its roots in Hawaii around 1500 A.D. Over generations, the art of surfing has evolved into a genre of its own. Surfing is dancing on the waves. The experience of unleashed imagination has inspired surfers to channel that energy into a wide variety of expression. The Huntington Beach Art Center proudly presents the works of 100 artists, a shared love of the ocean fueling their creative spirit.

A piece of Scott Hanley’s art was selected out of 30 worldwide to be displayed virtually at the Huntington Beach Art Gallery, Los Angeles USA. Some very famous surf artists were selected and to be named alongside them is pretty fantastic.

Members of WoSP produce some remarkable pieces of art. Scott demonstrates there are galleries out there that appreciate quality work. You just have to look.

The show can be visited by going to the Huntington Beach Art gallery show, “Surfing the pacific Rim”. https://www.huntingtonbeachartcenter.org/surfing-the-pacific-rim.html
