John Andrews is a guitar teacher and a new member. He has the plans to make the guitar and the necessary jigs that will be required. At this stage he is planning to start on the 3rd May, the afternoon sessions, and is happy to guide others through the process of making the guitar. Depending on a member’s abilities it is anticipated it will take 10 weeks to make the guitar. Once everyone has their guitar he is happy to provide a couple of free lessons. John says “it is easier to play than a ukulele”.
Would you like to attend these fun sessions? Please let John know!! He can be contacted at 0418 366 840 or by email at johnxenophon@gmail.com
Sharpening the woodturning tools is a special skill that takes a lot of practice to master. Several of our woodturning gouges have been seriously damaged by incorrect sharpening. The Session Leaders on the day will be happy to sharpen the tools for you when needed. Please do not attempt to sharpen them on your own.
Ill health has caused Greg Millar to resign from the committee after being a contributor for almost 10 years. You may recall in September 2021 the Woodpecker presented a profile on Greg.
Many thanks Greg for your contribution. Sorry to see you go.
Noel Archdall & Colin Dobson wiil be sharing the interim role of secretary.

Recently Bunnings approached WoSP to build a box for the “Share the Dignity” Campaign.
Rob Oram & Gordon Waddingham stepped forward and built the box in no time at all.
Bunnings organised the paint job. Now the box sits in the Bunnings foyer in Rosebud for the public to make donations supporting victims of domestic violence.
The box can be disassembled and transported to any location to support this important campaign.
At the 2021 Toy Handover to local charities, the Rye Lions stepped up & donated $250 to Greg Millar, the club Secretary. With Covid limiting the amount of work that both Woodworkers of the Southern Peninsula & the Rye Lions could do Greg expressed his sincere thanks for the donation.
The money will go towards the 2022 toy making program.
The Woodworkers of the Southern Peninsula have worked all year to make toys for charities to distribute to children for Christmas. The charities present for the toy hand over were the Salvation Army & Food for All.
