New Workshop Progress

The anticipation of the new workshop being built at Vern Wright Reserve, 2-4 Shearwater Place Capel Sound is starting to materialise. After a number of delays the form-work has been done which includes all the required plumbing.

Currently the relocation from the Besgrove Street Workshop to the new workshop is expected to be sometime in May.

Stay tuned for further updates.

Toy Handover

The WOSP Toy Handover is on the  8th December  this year so that it does not clash with the motor bike enthusiast toy handover which takes place on the first Saturday in December.

Once again the club toy makers led by John Parrent have done a wonderful job this year to ensure there are sufficient toys for “Food for All”, “Rosebud Salvation Army” &  “Westernport Charities” to distribute to children at Christmas.

Paint Donation

The club is extremely grateful to Dulux for its donation of paint to assist with the finishing of a range of toys being made this year.

Each year WOSP makes over a thousand toys  available for distribution to charities on the Peninsula for distribution to children at Christmas.

As paint is on of the most expensive commodities in making these toys the club is very appreciative  for Dulux’s donation.

Garage Sale

There is a garage sale in Barry St Tootgarook next to the Senior Citizens Club  on Cup Day.

All profits made will be donated to WOSP to assist with the club relocation

Chris Pouncy Turning Tour

Gun woodturner Chris Pouncy is back touring towns in four states of Australia to impart his expert tips and techniques, and spread the word about Robert Sorby tools.

The demos are free courtesy of Carbatec

Probably as  a result of the club purchasing 3 Nova DVR Saturn lathes Carbatec approached the club offering to arrange to have Chris Pouncy demonstrate  with Robert Sorby tools at the club workshop.

Naturally the club jumped at the opportunity. So the event has been arranged for 10am on Thursday 5th July. If you are interested an attendance sheet will be available on the WOSP notice board.

The event will be promoted through CWC, direct invitation to various men’s shed, our website and various Facebook Notice Boards.
